If you’re looking for the absolute "pop" of color in the PC Engine library, Fantasy Zone is the crown jewel. This 1988 port of SEGA’s arcade legend is a total departure from the gritty space shooters of the era, trading dark voids for psychedelic, candy-colored landscapes. You pilot the sentient spaceship Opa-Opa, and instead of just flying to the end of a level, you’re tasked with taking out massive base generators in a free-scrolling arena. It’s famous for its quirky shop system where you literally "buy" your power-ups with fallen enemies' coins. This version is widely considered one of the best home ports ever made—capturing the arcade’s whimsical charm and frantic pace with incredible HuCard precision
