Collection: MSX

The MSX was a highly successful 8-bit home computer standard in Japan during the 1980s. Unlike standard computers made by just one company, the MSX was a shared blueprint. Microsoft and ASCII Corporation created this blueprint in 1983.

The MSX is most famous today for launching legendary video game franchises. Key software companies like Konami and Hudson Soft fully embraced the system.

  • Metal Gear Debut: Hideo Kojima created the very first Metal Gear game for the MSX2 in 1987.
  • Konami Golden Age: Franchises like Castlevania (as Vampire Killer), Contra, and Gradius had definitive editions on MSX hardware.
  • Dragon Quest Ports: Early Enix RPGs found huge success on the system.

Although not often, we do carry MSX products.
