Collection: Neo Geo CD

Neo Geo CD was the follow up to the AES home system. Because the AES was so expensive, SNK decided to release a CD ROM format system to try to get more of a holding into the market. The CD's are 1:1 with the Arcade games but with better sound. Sadly, people complained of long load times and the units at the time were still more expensive then what was available on the market. 

Combine that with a limited marketing budget and hardly any pressence in the US. the CD unit ultimately failed.

The unit did however have three versions

the original Front Loader which was a MASSIVE unit (and highly sought after by collectors)

the top loader which was smaller and less expensive

and the CDZ which came out near the consoles end of life cycle and while more expensive, was smaller than the other two and had a better, faster laser.
