Pioneer LaserActive Mega Drive Pack

Released in Japan on August 20, 1993, the Mega-LD PAC (PAC-S1) is a specialized expansion module for the Pioneer LaserActive CLD-A100 that transforms the unit into a fully functional Sega Mega Drive (Genesis) and Sega CD console. Developed in collaboration with Sega, the PAC slides into the front of the LaserActive player, allowing it to run standard Mega Drive cartridges, Sega CD discs, and exclusive Mega-LD LaserDiscs. 

These unique Mega-LD games leverage the massive storage of the LaserDisc format to provide high-quality full-motion video backgrounds with interactive game sprites layered on top. Because of its premium build and specialized hardware, the PAC-S1 is a highly coveted collector's item, often requiring its internal surface-mount capacitors to be replaced due to age-related leakage.
