Star Wars Rebel Assault II

Take control of the Rebel Alliance in Star Wars: Rebel Assault II: The Hidden Empire, a cinematic action game built around full-motion video, rail shooting, space combat, and on-foot blaster sequences. Released in Japan on December 27, 1996 and published by Bullet-Proof Software (BPS) / LucasArts, the game follows Rookie One and Rebel pilot Ru Murleen as they investigate the disappearance of Rebel spacecraft and uncover the Empire's secret TIE Phantom project. Players battle through pre-rendered flight sequences, asteroid fields, Imperial installations, and live-action story scenes across a two-disc PlayStation release.

Gamer Fact: Rebel Assault II was promoted by LucasArts as the first Star Wars production since Return of the Jedi to feature newly filmed live-action actors and footage, excluding the Ewok television films from that claim. The production used actors filmed largely against bluescreens, with computer-generated environments added afterward, and several costumes and props, including stormtrooper armor and Darth Vader's costume, came directly from Lucasfilm's original-trilogy archives.
