Released in Japan on September 9, 1994, Thrash Rally is a fast-paced top-down racing game developed by ADK for the Neo Geo CD. Players compete in a grueling global rally championship, navigating diverse terrains from the dusty deserts of Africa to the snowy tracks of Iceland across two distinct modes: the standard World Rally Championship and the quirky, high-stakes Paris-Dakar Rally.
The gameplay is noted for its drift-heavy physics and the variety of vehicles available, including nimble rally cars, heavy-duty trucks, and even a secret motorcycle. While the Neo Geo CD version is subject to the system's characteristic loading times between stages, it is highly prized by collectors for its high-fidelity arranged soundtrack, which replaces the arcade's FM synthesis with a high-energy, rock-infused score that perfectly complements the intense off-road action.
