Released in Japan in 1995, Thunder Storm LX-3 & Road Blaster is a double-disc compilation of two classic FMV (Full Motion Video) action games originally developed by Data East. Both titles, the helicopter combat game Thunder Storm (known as Cobra Command in the West) and the post-apocalyptic vehicular combat game Road Blaster (known as Road Avenger), utilize high-quality anime sequences to drive the gameplay. Players must execute precise directional inputs and button presses in response to on-screen prompts to navigate through cinematic scripted sequences.
This PlayStation port is often considered the definitive home version of these arcade classics, offering improved video quality and smoother transitions compared to earlier Sega CD or LaserDisc versions.
