Released in 1998, Tiger Woods '99 PGA Tour Golf marked the PlayStation debut of the legendary golfer's partnership with EA Sports. This title marked a transition for the long-running PGA Tour series, introducing digitized sprites of Tiger Woods and other pro golfers set against 3D-rendered courses.
It is widely remembered for its accessible "three-click" swing meter and for including a "CyberTiger" mode, which offered an arcade-style experience alongside the traditional simulation. While it laid the groundwork for the massive franchise that followed, the PS1 version gained unintentional notoriety for a "hidden" Easter egg on early pressings that contained a video clip from South Park, leading to a swift recall by EA.
