XI [sai]

Released in 1998 (and known as Devil Dice in the West), XI [sai] is a highly original and addictive puzzle game developed by Shift that became a surprise hit on the PlayStation. Players control a small demon named Aqui who runs atop a grid of giant dice, rolling them to match the numbers on their top faces; for example, grouping three "3" dice or six "6" dice causes them to sink into the floor and disappear. 

The game is celebrated for its simple yet deep "chaining" mechanics, where players can slide additional dice into a disappearing group to keep a combo alive. With its minimalist aesthetic, quirky soundtrack, and intense five-player multiplayer mode, it remains one of the most distinctive and clever puzzle titles in the console's library.
