Akai Katana Shin

Cut through dense waves of enemy fire in Akai Katana Shin, Cave’s expanded Xbox 360 version of its 2010 arcade shoot-'em-up. Released in Japan on May 26, 2011 and developed and published by Cave, the game combines the original arcade version with the heavily reworked Shin mode, which features redesigned enemy patterns, a new scoring system, newly drawn high-resolution visuals, full 16:9 presentation, an additional stage, and the new character Nazuna Ayase. Players switch between fighter and phantom forms, absorb enemy bullets, and convert incoming fire into massive scoring opportunities across one of Cave’s most stylish horizontal shooters.

Gamer Fact: The Xbox 360 version was much more than a straight arcade port. Cave rebuilt the main Shin mode specifically for home play, redrawing the graphics in higher resolution, rebalancing enemy placement and bullet patterns, and expanding the campaign to seven stages. This First Print Limited Edition also includes a special illustrated outer box featuring artwork by character designer Mushimaro and an exclusive Akai Katana Shin soundtrack CD featuring music by Ryu Umemoto.
