Take Crash Bandicoot on his first handheld adventure in Crash Bandicoot Advance, the Japanese Game Boy Advance release of Crash Bandicoot: The Huge Adventure. Released in Japan on July 18, 2002 and published by Konami, the game was developed by Vicarious Visions and follows Crash as he attempts to stop Dr. Neo Cortex after the villain uses a Planetary Minimizer to shrink the Earth. Players run, jump, spin, body-slam, and collect crystals across colorful side-scrolling stages filled with familiar enemies, hazards, bonus areas, and boss battles.

Gamer Fact: Crash Bandicoot Advance was the first Crash Bandicoot game developed specifically for a handheld system. Rather than trying to reproduce the fully 3D PlayStation games directly, Vicarious Visions rebuilt the series around detailed 2D side-scrolling stages while preserving Crash's familiar movement, crate-breaking mechanics, chase sequences, and character animations. The game also supports a Game Boy Advance Link Cable feature for exchanging certain game data between systems.
