Crimson Tears

Released in 2004, Crimson Tears is a high-octane, cel-shaded action-RPG developed by DreamFactory the studio renowned for Tobal No. 1 and The Bouncer. Set in a futuristic Tokyo in the year 2049, the game follows three bio-engineered humanoids who must infiltrate a series of randomly generated dungeons to investigate a catastrophic explosion. 

The gameplay blends traditional roguelike elements, such as procedurally shifting layouts and permadeath for items, with a deep, fighting-game-style combat system. A unique mechanic requires players to manage their character's internal temperature, as over-exertion causes them to overheat and take damage, forcing a strategic balance between aggressive combos and cooling down.
