Deep Dungeon IV: Kuro no Youjutsushi

Descend into a dark fantasy world of labyrinths, monsters, and revenge in Deep Dungeon IV: Kuro no Youjutsushi, the fourth and final entry in HummingBirdSoft's dungeon-crawling RPG series. Released in Japan on April 6, 1990 and published by Asmik, the game follows a young adventurer seeking vengeance for his father's death while exploring towns, forests, caves, towers, and dangerous first-person dungeons. Battles are turn-based, additional companions can join the party during the journey, and players can take on optional requests from NPCs to earn money, experience, and useful items.

Gamer Fact: Deep Dungeon IV changed several systems from earlier games in the series. Instead of creating additional custom party members, the player can recruit up to two predetermined companions with their own roles. Later in the adventure, the hero can also learn magic that summons one of two monsters as a temporary extra party member for a single battle, adding an unusual layer of tactical support to the series' traditional first-person dungeon combat.

Compatibility Note: This is an authentic Japanese Famicom release. Japanese Famicom cartridges use a 60-pin connector and are not directly compatible with the 72-pin cartridge slot used by the North American Nintendo Entertainment System. Playing this cartridge on an original NES requires an appropriate 60-pin-to-72-pin adapter or compatible hardware designed to accept Japanese Famicom cartridges.
