Dragon Half

Enter the ridiculous fantasy world of Dragon Half, a colorful board-game-style RPG based on Ryūsuke Mita’s manga and anime series. Released in Japan on September 30, 1994 and published by Micro Cabin, the PC Engine Super CD-ROM² version was developed by Studio Hard and follows Mink, a half-human, half-dragon girl whose adventures mix fantasy battles with deliberately absurd comedy. Players move around game boards by rolling dice, trigger events depending on the spaces they land on, and enter animated combat sequences where well-timed button presses can influence the outcome.

Gamer Fact: Dragon Half was released on several Japanese computer platforms before arriving on the PC Engine, but the Super CD-ROM² version makes extensive use of CD audio and voice acting. Several performers from the 1993 Dragon Half anime adaptation returned for the game, including Kotono Mitsuishi as Mink, helping the PC Engine release retain much of the anime’s manic comedy and character personality.
