Released in Japan on June 23, 2000, Excitebike 64 is the ambitious 3D sequel to the NES motocross classic. Developed by Left Field Productions, the game features a realistic physics engine that emphasizes weight and momentum across 20 diverse tracks, including outdoor stadiums and sprawling desert environments. Beyond the standard championship mode, it is famous for its quirky "Special Track" mini-games like Hill Climb, Soccer, and a 3D recreation of the original 1984 Excitebike. The Japanese release is virtually identical to the Western versions in terms of gameplay, though it arrived several months after the North American debut.
