Final Fantasy III

Embark on a sweeping fantasy adventure in Final Fantasy III, the third mainline entry in Square’s legendary RPG series. Released in Japan on April 27, 1990 and developed and published by Square, the game follows four young heroes chosen by the Crystals to restore balance to a world threatened by darkness. Players explore towns, dungeons, caves, towers, and the overworld while building a party through the game’s flexible Job system, which allows characters to switch between classes such as Warrior, Monk, White Mage, Black Mage, Dragoon, Summoner, and Ninja.

Gamer Fact: Final Fantasy III introduced several systems that would become major parts of the series, most notably the fully developed Job Change system and summoning magic. It was also the first entry to feature multiple airships with different capabilities, dramatically expanding exploration and giving the game a much larger sense of scale than the two earlier Famicom titles.

Compatibility Note: This is an authentic Japanese Famicom release. Japanese Famicom cartridges use a 60-pin connector and are not directly compatible with the 72-pin cartridge slot used by the North American Nintendo Entertainment System. Playing this cartridge on an original NES requires an appropriate 60-pin-to-72-pin adapter or compatible hardware designed to accept Japanese Famicom cartridges.
