htoL#NiQ: Hotaru no Nikki

Guide a young girl through the ruins of a dying world in htoL#NiQ: Hotaru no Nikki, known internationally as htoL#NiQ: The Firefly Diary. Released in Japan on June 19, 2014 and developed and published by Nippon Ichi Software, the game uses the PS Vita’s touch controls to manipulate two fireflies that guide the girl Mion through dangerous environments filled with traps, hostile creatures, and environmental puzzles. Players alternate between the world of light and a shadow realm, using each firefly’s unique abilities to open paths and keep Mion alive.

Gamer Fact: The Japanese physical version was sold only as the First Print Limited Premium Box. Nippon Ichi Software did not produce a standard retail physical edition after the initial run. The premium package included a 36-page visual art book, a 17-track original soundtrack CD, and two exclusive 32mm character badges, making this release significantly more collectible than the later digital-only availability.
