Kirby: Planet Robobot

Fight back against the mechanization of Planet Popstar in Kirby: Planet Robobot, HAL Laboratory's technology-infused entry in Nintendo's beloved platforming series. Released in Japan on April 28, 2016 and published by Nintendo, the game follows Kirby as the Haltmann Works Company invades his peaceful home and begins transforming the planet with industrial machinery. Alongside Kirby's traditional Copy Abilities, players can pilot the powerful Robobot Armor, which scans enemy abilities and transforms itself into specialized modes capable of cutting, burning, flying, smashing obstacles, and blasting through heavily mechanized stages.

Gamer Fact: Director Shinya Kumazaki explained that Planet Robobot was intentionally designed as the visual opposite of the previous 3DS game, Kirby: Triple Deluxe. Because both games used the same hardware and underlying engine, the team wanted the new adventure to feel dramatically different. They replaced the previous game's warm skies and plant-filled environments with a mechanical world, and the Robobot Armor was created specifically to introduce new Copy Ability gameplay that matched that industrial setting.
