Hit the highway in KITT with Knight Rider Special, a Japanese-exclusive PC Engine action-driving game based on the classic 1980s television series Knight Rider. Released in Japan on December 22, 1989 and developed and published by Pack-In-Video, the game puts players behind the wheel of the Knight Industries Two Thousand as Michael Knight pursues criminals across pseudo-3D highways. Players weave through traffic and obstacles, race against strict time limits, use KITT's special equipment, and confront enemy vehicles and bosses across a series of high-speed missions.

Gamer Fact: Knight Rider Special goes further than a simple visual license by incorporating sampled dialogue from KITT's Japanese television voice, performed by Akio Nojima, along with music based on the original TV series theme. Combined with features such as Turbo Boost and KITT's other special equipment, it gives the PC Engine release a surprisingly strong connection to the Japanese broadcast version of the show.

Compatibility Note: This is an authentic Japanese PC Engine HuCARD release. Japanese PC Engine HuCARDs are not directly compatible with a stock North American TurboGrafx-16 because the HuCARD and TurboChip interfaces use different pin assignments. Playing this game on an original North American TurboGrafx-16 requires a compatible HuCARD/TurboChip converter, an internal region modification, or modern hardware designed to support both Japanese and North American card formats.
