Originally released in 1990 by SNK, the Neo Geo AES (Advanced Entertainment System) remains the ultimate luxury console for retro collectors. It was unique for offering a "1:1" arcade experience at home, using identical hardware to the MVS arcade machines. Because of its immense power, the console and its massive cartridges—which could hold over 330 Megabits of data—retailed for hundreds of dollars, earning it the nickname "the Rolls Royce of gaming". Today, it is celebrated for its legendary library of fighting games and high-quality 2D sprites, with a modern hardware reincarnation, the Neo Geo AES+, set to launch in November 2026 to celebrate its 35th anniversary.
