Transform the Pioneer LaserActive into a full Sega-compatible game system with the PAC-S1 MEGA-LD Control Pack. Released in Japan in August 1993 by Pioneer in cooperation with Sega, the PAC-S1 installs into the LaserActive’s front expansion bay and adds support for Japanese Mega Drive cartridges, Mega-CD software, CD+G discs, and the exclusive Mega-LD format. With the module installed, the LaserActive effectively becomes a combined LaserDisc player, Mega Drive, Mega-CD, and Mega-LD system built around a single optical drive.
Gamer Fact: The PAC-S1 contains genuine Sega hardware rather than simply emulating the Mega Drive and Mega-CD. Internally, it functions as a dedicated Sega subsystem built into a removable LaserActive expansion module, allowing original cartridges and discs to run through Pioneer’s player. The Japanese PAC-S1 corresponds to the North American PAC-S10, but the two are configured for their respective regional Mega Drive/Genesis and Mega-CD/Sega CD software.
What's Included:
- Original Pioneer LaserActive PAC-S1 MEGA-LD Control Pack
- Integrated Japanese Mega Drive Cartridge Slot
- Two Integrated Sega Controller Ports
Compatibility Note: The PAC-S1 is not a standalone console and requires compatible Pioneer LaserActive hardware, such as the Japanese CLD-A100, to operate. It is designed for Japanese Mega Drive cartridges, Japanese Mega-CD discs, and compatible Mega-LD software. North American Genesis cartridges and Sega CD software should not be assumed compatible with an unmodified Japanese PAC-S1.
