Released in Japan on December 13, 2003, the Sony PSX (specifically model DESR-7700) is a high-end digital video recorder (DVR) with a fully integrated PlayStation 2 console.

Developed by Sony's electronics division rather than the gaming branch, it was the first device to introduce the XrossMediaBar (XMB) user interface later used for the PSP and PS3. The DESR-7700 was part of the fourth and final series of PSX models, featuring a 250GB hard drive and unique connectivity options like a specialized i.LINK port.
