Rockman X5

Fight against extinction in Rockman X5, the fifth main entry in Capcom's Rockman X series and one of the most ambitious 2D action games on the original PlayStation. Released in Japan on November 30, 2000 and published by Capcom, the game lets players choose between X and Zero as they battle eight Mavericks and race to stop the Eurasia space colony from crashing into Earth. Alongside the series' familiar fast-paced platforming, boss weapons, armor upgrades, and hidden collectibles, Rockman X5 introduces a mission countdown, multiple possible outcomes, and an expanded Parts system that allows players to customize character abilities.

Gamer Fact: Rockman X5 was originally designed as a major turning point for the series, with the story centered around the destruction of Earth and the escalating conflict between X and Zero. Its most unusual mechanic is the 16-hour countdown tied to the Enigma cannon and space shuttle operations. Entering stages advances the clock, while defeating Mavericks and collecting key components improves the player's chances of preventing the Eurasia colony disaster, giving the game a more variable progression structure than earlier Rockman X titles.

Compatibility Note: This is an authentic Japanese NTSC-J PlayStation release. Original PlayStation and PlayStation 2 consoles are region-locked, so this Japanese disc will not normally boot on unmodified North American or PAL-region hardware. Playing the original disc on incompatible regional hardware generally requires appropriate region-compatible or modified hardware.
