Leap across a floating maze of tiles in Splash Lake, a colorful action-puzzle game for the PC Engine CD-ROM². Released in Japan on June 28, 1991 and published by NEC Avenue, the game was developed by Bits Laboratory and puts players in control of a cartoon ostrich navigating suspended platforms above a lake. The goal is to strategically crack sections of the floor so enemies fall into the water, while avoiding hazards, preserving safe routes, and working through increasingly tricky single-screen stages.

Gamer Fact: Splash Lake stands out from more traditional puzzle games by combining grid-based planning with direct character movement. Players can crack individual tiles, trigger larger sections of the playfield to collapse, and even tackle the game cooperatively with a second player. Bits Laboratory also handled the game’s programming, while T’s Music provided the soundtrack.

What's Included:

  • Original Japanese Splash Lake PC Engine CD-ROM² Game Disc
  • Original PC Engine Jewel Case with Artwork

Compatibility Note: This is an authentic Japanese PC Engine CD-ROM² release. PC Engine and TurboGrafx CD game discs themselves are not region-locked, so this Japanese disc can run on compatible North American TurboGrafx-CD or TurboDuo hardware, provided the system has the appropriate CD-ROM² system software or System Card required for this format.
