The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Plus

Split Link into four heroes and tackle Hyrule together in The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Plus, Nintendo's multiplayer-focused GameCube adventure. Released in Japan on March 18, 2004 and developed and published by Nintendo, the game combines classic overhead Zelda exploration with an unusual GameCube-to-Game Boy Advance setup. In Hyrule Adventure, up to four players work together to battle enemies, solve puzzles, move large objects, and collect Force Gems, while gameplay can shift between the shared television screen and each player's connected Game Boy Advance when entering caves, houses, and other hidden areas.

Gamer Fact: The Japanese version contains three distinct modes: Hyrule Adventure, Shadow Battle, and the Japan-exclusive Navi Trackers. In Navi Trackers, players use connected Game Boy Advance systems to race around maps collecting pirate medals while listening to real-time spoken instructions from Tetra and other fully voiced navigators on the television. Nintendo even designed the voice system to call out player information and status updates during the match, making it one of the strangest uses of GameCube-to-GBA connectivity in the Zelda series.
