Released in 1997, Time Crisis is a genre-defining rail shooter ported from the arcades that revolutionized the light gun experience on the PlayStation. Players take on the role of secret agent Richard Miller, tasked with infiltrating a castle to rescue a kidnapped president's daughter from the villainous Sherudo Garo.
Unlike its contemporaries, the game introduced a unique cover system that allowed players to duck behind objects to reload and avoid enemy fire by using a foot pedal (or a button on the G-Con/Guncon controller). This high-stakes "action movie" gameplay, driven by a strict time limit that rewards aggressive play, remains one of the most iconic and polished arcade experiences available on the console.
