Top Hunter

Released in Japan on September 29, 1994, Top Hunter: Roddy & Cathy is a vibrant and creative side-scrolling action game developed by SNK for the Neo Geo CD. Set in a colorful sci-fi universe, players take control of galactic bounty hunters Roddy and Cathy, who use their extendable, spring-like arms to grab enemies, swing from rails, and manipulate environmental objects across four unique elemental planets. 

The gameplay is distinguished by its two-plane system, allowing players to jump between the foreground and background to find hidden items or dodge attacks, and a command-based special move system inspired by fighting games. While the Neo Geo CD version is subject to the system's characteristic loading times, it is highly prized by collectors for its high-fidelity arranged soundtrack, which replaces the arcade's FM synthesis with a catchy, high-energy score that perfectly complements the game's whimsical, cartoonish aesthetic.
