Utawarerumono: Itsuwari no Kamen

Enter a richly detailed world of political intrigue, warfare, and ancient mystery in Utawarerumono: Itsuwari no Kamen, released internationally as Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception. Released in Japan on September 24, 2015 and developed and published by Aquaplus, the game follows an amnesiac young man named Haku after he is rescued by the mysterious Kuon. The adventure combines lengthy visual-novel storytelling with tactical turn-based battles, allowing players to position characters across grid-based battlefields, execute coordinated attacks, develop character abilities, and gradually uncover the truth behind Haku's identity and the powerful nation of Yamato.

Gamer Fact: Itsuwari no Kamen marked the return of the main Utawarerumono storyline more than a decade after the original 2002 game. Its story was deliberately structured as the first half of a larger narrative, ending directly into the events of Utawarerumono: Futari no Hakuoro (Mask of Truth), which Aquaplus released the following year to complete the storyline.
