Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria

Released in Japan on June 22, 2006, Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria is a visually stunning prequel developed by tri-Ace that serves as one of the technical benchmarks for the PlayStation 2. Set hundreds of years before the original game, the story follows Princess Alicia of Dipan, who shares her body with the rebellious Valkyrie Silmeria as they flee from the wrath of Odin. 

The gameplay innovates on the series' formula by introducing the Advanced Tactical Combination system, which allows players to move freely in 3D battle arenas while maintaining the signature four-button rhythmic combat. Its intricate "Photon" puzzle mechanics for 2D exploration and its highly detailed character models—designed by Kou Yoshinari—make it a standout title for fans of Norse mythology and deep strategic RPGs.
